Hello everyone,
BBC pinches David's Idea:
It may not be strictly true, but David set up an excellent Cliffhanger exercise, when different members wrote the chapters. Well, now it seems that the
BBC are doing just the same thing - only in competition form. Each chapter is being set up as a competition in it own right, with the final resulting story
being published and read on Somerset Sound. There have been two chapters done so far, and the third chapter is being judged at the moment. I saw the notice
about it on Friday, and looked at the website www.bbc.co.uk/somerset/raw on Sunday, and decided to write my own third chapter - but I'm too late to enter
for it. I'll have a go at the fourth chapter though.
The storyline starts off about King Arthur's lot around Glastonbury, but unfortunately, the writers are not totally familiar with the Somerset moors and
dialogue. It's a bit of a weird start, and familiarity with Arthurian legends will help a great deal (well, it will unless the story takes a different turn).
I don't go a bundle on that sort of pseudo-history, but that won't stop me having an attempt to put my effort in fior Chapter 4..
You might like to read the first two chapters which you can download in pdf form, and I'll willingly send anyone my version for Chapter 3. I'll be
interested to see what the winning chapter is.
Regular Challenges:
Challenge 4 should now have been completed and sent to Ann.
See the Challenges page for details of Challenge 5, the results of Challenge 3 - and
for this year's fiendish Christmas Quiz!
As you know, it is my pleasure to set you a Christmas quiz which you can do as you digest the turkey in front of the fire (or sunbathing in the sun
like Ann). I don't think this will prove as tough as the previous two years, but then, that's just my point of view!
I'll invite you to have a go, and the longest list I get on January 4th could get a bonus point for someone towards the Challenge total!
Group Novel:

for a group writing project.
Discussion:
I don't have a topic for the moment: I think you've got enough to occupy you for the time being!
That's all for this month. I have enjoyed reading all the emails which have been circulating, and I think we have all especially enjoyed Geoff's writing.
My very best wishes to you all for a most enjoyable Christmas and New Year season.
